The Benue state transition committee has submitted its report with an advice to Governor Samuel Ortom to implement the recommendations made for better service delivery.
Chairman of the committee and former Senate president, Senator Iyorchia Ayu stated this on Tuesday when he led other members to present report.
He advised the governor to appoint the most competent persons to man his cabinet and other strategic positions.
He also urged the Governor to take immediate steps to rehabilitate the public office, engage a competent and reputable ICT company to help establish the integrity of staff of state and local governments.
According to sen. Ayu, such an ICT company must deploy the latest solutions, carry out biometric data capture and manage the pay rolls for reasonable time while the state government trains its own personnel.

Similarly, the state Transition committee chairman stressed the need for the Governor to broaden his administration’s definition of Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, beyond taxes and fines to include yields on investments to boost revenue.
Ayu said the Benue state government must lift the embargo on employment as part of the committee’s recommendations as soon as the biometric staff audit was concluded in addition to training and retraining of the state public servants for effective service delivery.
Receiving the report, Gov. Ortom praised the committee members for their commitment and diligence, saying he was not surprised at the outcome of their assignment because they were people of proven integrity and with the growth of the state at heart.
Thanking members of the committee for doing a great job, he promised to examine the report critically with a view to implementing it for the benefit of the Benue people.
He urged the committee to periodically support his administration with ideas that could add credibility to governance and expressed his readiness to engage competent people to serve as recommended.
