An officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Josephine Cynthia Inalegwu Onche, who got missing a few days to her wedding day, has been found dead and buried in a shallow grave in Obi Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was reported that the family started searching for her after she had gone to the market to buy things for her wedding but didn’t return.

About one year and five months later, her decomposed body was found buried.

Her proposed husband is alleged to have murdered her for ritual purpose, a source told journalists.

“An okada man who knew what happened to late Cynthia Onche went to her family members and gave them the news.

“He led them to arrest her proposed husband, an Igbo man, who led the police to Ogun State where they arrested a native doctor, a Yoruba man who performed the ritual at Obi Local Government Area before relocating to the South West State later.

“Both the proposed husband and the native doctor have confessed committing the crime and are presently in police custody in Otukpo,” the source said.

However, the family of the late security personnel have exhumed her remains and fixed Tuesday June 1, 2021 for the official burial.

When contacted, the Benue State Command’s Public Relations Officer (CPRO), NSCDC, ASC Ejelikwu Michael, declined comment saying he would rather speak on the matter at a later date.

However, an insider who pleaded anonymity told journalists that the report was true.

The source said her demise was said to have thrown the command into deep mourning.
