Benue state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the State government, on Saturday held a memorial service in honour of hundreds of Benue people massacred by Fulani herdsmen in 2018.
Speaking after the memorial service in Makurdi, State Chairman of CAN, Rev. Apken Leva said they will not forget the massacre of over hundreds of Benue people in January, and all through 2018 by herdsmen militia.
He said the church will continue to commemorate this day in honour of the victims, parishioners and security agents who were also killed while protecting the harpless farmers.
Rev Leva, who prayed for the repose of the souls, also prayed for God to console their families of the victims.

He said for peace to reign in Benue, the anti-open grazing law has come to stay and anyone who attempts to repeal that law is an enemy of the state.
The State Gov. Samuel Ortom called on the church to unite in prayers against the menace.
Ortom called for the forgiveness of the enemies as only way to seek God’s face even when others have taken to blame games.
It will be recalled that beginning from the first of January, 2018, herdsmen militia attacked several communities in Guma, Logo, Ukum, Buruku, Agatu, Gwer west local government among others and killed several farmers including women and children.
