Benue: Army arrests Boko Haram commander behind killings

A suspected Boko Haram commander said to be behind the recent spate of killings in Benue State has been arrested by soldiers.

He is one Aminu Yaminu.

Arrested on Friday in Makurdi, he was said to be the brain behind the incessant killing in Benue State.

According to the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 707 Special Forces Brigade in Makurdi, Olabisi Ayeni, the arrest was effected by a combined team of troops of 707 special forces brigade, the police and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Ayeni’s statement reads: “Following an intelligence report, it was gathered that Aminu has concluded plans with his cohorts in Bauchi, Borno, Yobe and Nasarawa states to launch a major attack on innocent citizens in Benue state.

“As earlier reinstated, Nigerian Army will ensure enemies of peace in the state are brought to justice. Nigerian Army encourages all law-abiding citizens to go about their lawful businesses without fear.”

Meanwhile, the military has repeated its call for Nigerians to help it with useful information to aid the arrest of criminals in the society.
