The All Progressives Congress, APC, continued to lose some of its key members as the gale of defection, again, swept through Benue State.

No fewer than 13 local government chairmen dumped the party.

The defection of the local government chairmen came shortly after Governor Samuel Ortom joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The affected chairmen are:  Anthony Shawon (Guma); Justina Sorka (Buruku); Mwuese Ubebe (Konshisha); Blessing Unogwo (Ado Ado); Virginia Kpindi (Katsina-Ala) and George Alli (Otukpo).

Others are: Comfort Echeoda (Agatu); Francis Ayaga (Gwer West); Uaah Vitalis (Gwer East); Richard Nyajo (Logo); Ibellogo Tor (Tyokaa-Ukum); Adakole Abutu (Ohimini) and Peter Onche (Obi).

The defection of Ortom has attracted strong criticism from the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole.

He described Ortom as corrupt and one responsible for the high level of poverty in the state.

Ortom has replied Oshiomhole, saying he was indeed an undertaker.

According to him, he had taken over the APC in order to bury it.
