A press statement signed by the state’s APC Governorship Candidate, Emmanuel Liambee Jime stated that President Buhari will be on official cum campaign visit to Benue on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

The statement read, “On behalf of the All Progress Congress’s, APC, family in Benue state, I, Hon. Emmanuel Jime, the state’s APC 2019 Governorship standard bearer and my running mate, Barr. Sam Ode, heartily welcome the Commander- In-Chief of Nigeria’s Armed Forces and our political leader, President Muhammadu Buhari on this official cum campaign visit to Benue state, the Food Basket of the Nation.

“We wish to assure you and your entourage of a warm reception, as Benue is poised to treat you to the usual hospitality for which our people are famed throughout Nigeria”.

Jime noted that the Benue people are not only excitedly anticipating the president’s visit, but that their passion for him has equally leaped further.

He pledged unwavering commitment of the people to identify and reverently support his dreams of redeeming Nigeria through the developmental strides of his administration across the country.

While he reiterated the position of Benue APC to stand with him “now and always; come rain, come sunshine”, Jime further thanked President Buhari for his efforts to rehabilitate some federal roads in the state.

“Our hearts are steeped in joy over your approval of release of funds for the reconstruction of some federal roads in the state, abandoned over the years, like the Makurdi/Gboko/ Ugbema/ Katsina- Ala and the Makurdi/Naka/ Adoka roads”, he said.

Meanwhile, fielding questions from journalists in his office on Tuesday, concerning the President’s visit, on Wednesday, CP Bishi said about 1000 police officers will be deployed to ensure adequate security during and after the rally.

He appealed to Benue residents to bear with the inconveniences that may arise as some commercial areas in Makurdi may be closed to allow for free flow of movements.

“We are ready for the President’s visit tomorrow. We have received an advanced party and we are strategising with other security agencies.

“We want to ensure that everything goes well. We want to make sure that we don’t have any ugly incident or any form of trouble on our table.

“Areas we have noticed that may have too much human activities to obstruct movement, we may have to close down commercial activities of that area for that day so that we can have a very hitch free visit to the state”, he added.
