She also called on participants at the workshop to develop plans and also create strategies that would sharpen HILWA and facilitate a common understanding on the need to advocate for girls education.

Mrs. Abubakar expressed displeasure over the increasing number of out of school girls in the world.

According to her, more than 62 million girls were out of school worldwide with the majority of them coming from Africa and other developing countries.

She gave the assurance that the state government would continue to help support the girl child education drive, check and sanction the growing cases of domestic violence, child abuse, drug abuse and cultural taboos that are detrimental to the development and progress of women and girls.

She commended the efforts of the wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hajia Aisha Buhari for rolling out programmes through Future Assured Initiative to enhance the welfare of women and children in the areas of education, healthcare, and sustainable empowerment programmes.
