The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, Professor Itse Sagay, has declared that former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo did not make sense in his warning that President Muhammadu Buhari should not nurse a second term ambition.
Describing the warning as insulting, he said the former president should learn to respect other people.
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Sagay who spoke with The Nation was reacting to a lengthy statement issued by Obasanjo on Tuesday.
The former president who warned Buhari against recontesting in 2019 said he had failed the nation.
According to him, the president had not been able to bring about the change that Nigerians yearned for when they voted for him in 2015.
He said the situation had remained the same.

He also accused Buhari of nepotism, lack of understanding of the nation’s economic situation, the politics and strength to carry on.
He warned him to be wary of those around him who might want him to continue in office for their personal gains.
He said what Buhari needed, particularly, in view of his state of health, was to rest and be on the sideline making his contributions towards the growth of the country.
But reacting Sagay said it was ironical that Obasanjo who wanted a third term for himself was advising another person not to go for a second term.
His words: “I saw Obasanjo’s comments and I could not believe my eyes that a man who tried to get a third term is discouraging someone else from getting a second term. It doesn’t make sense.
“I think Obasanjo should try and respect other people. He has achieved a lot. He is a great man and I respect him. But he should learn to respect other people and think of them as being, at least, as good as himself.
“I think it is insulting for a man who wanted third term to tell somebody else not to want second term. It is most inappropriate, and for a former head of state to say so is most improper.”
