The All Progressives Congress, APC, has threatened to sue the National Chairman of the Reformed All Progressives Congress, R-APC, Alhaji Buba Galadima.

The threat which was issued on Sunday followed the formation of a faction of the party, R-APC.

In a statement issued to announce the proposed action of the party, the National Legal Adviser of the APC, Babatunde Ogala, accused Galadima and other members of the R-APC of impersonation, fraudulent interpretation, conducts likely to breach public peace and breach of trademark and infringement of copyright.

His words:  “For the infringement so far committed by Mr Galadima and the odium he has brought upon the APC brand, we will be seeking civil redress against his person and that of his group.

“With respect to the criminal aspect of his conduct, we will be notifying the appropriate authorities to do the needful.”

Ogala described the action of the Galadima led group as tantamount to a coup.

He said instead of challenging any action that members of the group might have opposed, in court, they resorted to self help.

Ogala countered Galadima’s allegations against the APC.

He argued:  “The question of elections within the APC is covered by Article 20 of the APC Constitution. Specifically, Section 20 (1) provides that all party posts prescribed or implied by this constitution shall be filled by democratically conducted elections at the respective national convention or congress; subject where possible to consensus.”

It would be recalled that the R-APC announced its emergence on Thursday, with Buba Galadima as the national chairman.

The group expressed disenchantment over the performances of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and the All Progressives Congress.

The group said the government had performed below expectation.

It also faulted the national convention of the APC, saying it was a fraud.

The National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, has since replied, saying Galadima was of no political consequence.

He said the group was nothing to worry about.
