The All Progressive Congress (APC), in Kwande Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue State said it has recommended three party members; Iorfa Dzoho, Benjamin Wayo and Mrs Mimi Orubibi for sanctioning following their actions and utterances which they view as treacherous.

The party made the recommendations after their stakeholders meeting on Thursday after which they suspended them indefinitely from participating in the stakeholders activities of the party at the Local Government.

A statement signed on behalf of Kwande APC Stakeholders by Mr. Daniel Orngu read in part, “the Kwande APC stakeholders met on the 20th of July, 2021, at the residence of their leader and Zone A Chairman of the party, Elder Barr.Vincent Uji.

“The meeting frowned at the treacherous actions of some of their members who have constituted themselves into a gang that constantly engages in dishonest practices with the sole aim of disrupting the peaceful state of the Kwande chapter of the party.

“The few members have for some time now been found wanting by engaging in worrisome activities such as the attempted removal of the leader of Kwande APC stakeholders and the unguarded public utterances against the party and its leadership.

“The Kwande APC stakeholders view these actions as deliberate attempts to cause disaffection within Kwande APC and indeed wreak havoc on the entire Benue APC before eventually defecting to other political parties, based on information at their disposal.

The party said stakeholders strongly frowned at the acts of these members and therefore, unanimously recommended to the State Working Committee that the culprits, Iorfa Dzoho, Benjamin Wayo and Mrs Mimi Orubibi and all others found culpable for same offence be identified and sanctioned at various levels.

The Kwande stakeholders also appreciated the leader of the party, Senator George Akume, for reaffirming Barr. Vincent Uji as the authentic leader of Kwande APC stakeholders.

When contacted, the Caretaker Publicity Secretary for the APC in the state, Mr. James Ornguga said the Kwande chapter of APC has notified the State Working Committee, SWC, of their decision to suspend Mimi and two others.

“The procedure is that the LG chapter can only recommend somebody for suspension, it is the SWC that carries out the suspension. For now, we are going to sit over the matter on Monday. The issue before us but for now, they have not been suspended yet. The suspension had only been recommended by the local chapter.

Ornguga said the Kwande APC said the three persons recommended for sanctions “committed anti-party activities and they tried to disrupt the leadership of the party in the LG. For example, there were reports against them that the LG chairman in Kwande fought with the Zonal chairman during a function. They also tried to beat the man who is leader of the party in that LG to replace him with somebody.”

The Next Edition reports that Mrs Mimi Orubibi had reportedly visited an IDP camp in the state last weekend where she berated the APC led federal government for failing in their duties to safeguard the lives of Nigerians by ending cases of insecurity across the nation and for reneging in their promises to return Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Benue back to their ancestral homes.

Mrs Orubibi was a strong contender and the first runner up for the Benue North East Senatorial Seat in the 2019 general elections. She contested on the platform of the APC.
