APC guber primary: 36 out of 40 Lagos legislators move against Ambode

Legislators in the Lagos State House of Assembly emerged from a meeting on Saturday, throwing their weight behind Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the Lagos State governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress.

Out of the 40 legislators in the House, 36 are behind Sanwo-Olu.

Sanwo-Olu is the only candidate that will be contesting the governorship primary with incumbent, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Ambode who is in a disagreement with his godfather, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is facing stiff opposition over his ambition to continue in office for another term.

Sanwo-Olu who is said to be favoured by Tinubu is getting massive support from almost all quarters in the party.

Announcing the decision of the legislators on Saturday, the chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, said the decision was taken on Saturday.

She said a document was signed to the effect that they should support Sanwo-Olu in the primary at the meeting chaired by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.
