Prof. Charles Dokubo, Special Adviser to President Mohammadu Buhari, on Amnesty Matters, has extolled the virtue of the Niger Delta youths, saying they are not lazy, but need the opportunity to excel.
Dokubo said the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) was home-driven and home-grown and had made the teeming youths of the region the hub of innovation
The amnesty boss stated this on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital while declaring open the 2018 Entrepreneurial Fair, the amnesty programme was different from similar programmes in other countries.
He said the three-day fair was organised by PAP in partnership with the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHACCIMA), which was designed to engage and showcase 50 PAP delegates previously trained in various vocational skills and subsequently empowered as entrepreneurs.

The PAP Coordinator said: “The entrepreneurial fair 2018 is organised in partnership with Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHACCIMA) and it is designed to engage and showcase 50 PAP delegates previously trained in various vocational skills and subsequently empowered as entrepreneurs by the PAP.
“Riding on the partnership of PHACCIMA, there will be an avenue for PAP delegates’ interaction with key stakeholders of the business world, such as financiers, investors, mentors, etc.”
Dokubo stated that the entrepreneurial fair would promote industry and entrepreneurism in the Niger Delta by promoting, improving and showcasing successful businesses of PAP delegates.
Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State, in his speech, said his government would continue to support youths of the Niger Delta region, describing them as hardworking and industrious.
Wike, who was represented by Special Adviser on Amnesty, Ken Chinda, further said the state government would continue in its effort to keep youths in the state off the streets.
