Following the comments that trailed the burial announcement of the late former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, that his body would be buried at his Oke Ado Central Mosque, the burial place has been changed.

In a statement on Facebook by Alhaji Abidemi Shiyanbade, Special Adviser on Community Relations to late former governor stated that, “The concerns and comments by our brothers on this platform are all well noted and appreciated.

“Please note that, H.E. Senator Ajimobi, will not be buried in the premises of the mosque. Prayers will only be offered by a few invited clerics and close family members in the mosque.

“We are very mindful of all the protocols and the limitations on social gathering, which we will never run foul of. The information that came out was only meant not to keep us all in the dark. Your concerns that things be done rightly is most appreciated.

“May Almighty Allah reward us all and accept the return of our brother, Senator Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi.”

It could be recalled that on Friday, Ajimobi’s Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Bolaji Tunji, in a statement, said the family, in consultation with the governments of Lagos and Oyo states, the date for the burial ceremony had been announced.

He had said: “Barring any changes, his body will be interred at the Senator Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi Central Mosque at Oke Ado, Ibadan, at 12noon on Sunday June 28, 2020 after the traditional Muslim prayers.

“To ensure that strict COVID-19 protocols are adhered to and in light of the current circumstances of our national health challenges, the family appeals to the public to observe strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols in their participation. Furthermore, details of the live media coverage of the funeral ceremony will be made public by tomorrow.

“In the near future, details of a larger funeral gathering will be announced where a lot more of his well wishers will have the opportunity to pay him their respect.”

But, according to the latest statement by Special Adviser on Community Relations, prayers would only be held in late Ajimobi’s Oke Ado Central Mosque.
