Air Craftsman Kalu Bernard is to die by hanging for killing his girlfriend and colleague, Solape Oladipupo.
Bernard was sentenced to death having been found guilty by a 10-man Nigeria Air Force (NAF) General Court Martial.
It would be recalled that the 21 years old Bernard shot his girlfriend, Solape, dead when he allegedly caught her in an amorous relationship with another man at the Air Force Base, Makurdi onMarch 12.
Bernard, according to report, was however overpowered by Solape’s lover.
Bernard had also wanted to shoot him.
The charges against Bernard, according to the Judge Advocate of the court, Flight Lt. M. A. Umoh, included murder, failure to perform military duty, housebreaking and impersonation.

Bernard was also accused of loss of service property, disobedience of service order and prejudice to service discipline.
Although he pleaded not guilty, the president of the court, Group Capt. Elisha Bindul, in his judgement said Bernard was found guilty of six out of the eight charges.
He was sentenced to death by hanging.
The judgement, Bindul said, was however subject to the confirmation of the convening authority.
The defence counsel, Abimiku Ewuga, declared that he would appeal the sentence.
Earlier, he had pleaded for leniency for Bernard, arguing that he was a first time offender and the breadwinner of his family.
Oluremi Ilori, who is the prosecution witness, described the judgement as a sound one.
He< said even the deceased would be happy with it.
