The call was the outcome of the decisions reached at a meeting held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, by the leaders of the youth in the state.

In a 12-point resolution they issued, they pledged their resolve to remain in strong support of the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel for providing good leadership in the state.

The youth who debunked the insinuation that there was feud between Governor Udom Emmanuel and his predecessor, Godswill Akpabio, said the peace and tranquility reigning in the state must be maintained.

They pledged their support for the two leaders.

“We are particularly happy with the superlative performance of His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, as well as the effective representation of the Senate Minority Leader, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio,” the youth said.

Politician, they warned, should not, in the guise of supporting one leader or the other foment any division in the political space of the state.

They said they were ready to work assiduously towards the re-election of Governor Udom Emmanuel, as well as the re-election of the Senator Godswill Akpabio in 2019.

“We call on our Leader/Governor, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel, who has performed so well, as well as the Senate Minority Leader, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio not to be distracted but be focused and continue in partnership for the overall interest of the Akwa Ibom project.”

The youth said they would resist attempts to cause a breach of the peace in the state.

Those who participated in the meeting included the leadership of State Youth Council, State Youth Caucus, the Dakkada Youth Coordinator, Forum of Village Youth Christian Youths.
