Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has extended the tenure of the current Transition Management Committee (TMC) of the 31 Local Government Areas by another six months.
The tenure of the local government executives has been extended three times since they were constituted in July 2016.
The governor has also reconstituted the sacked Executives of Itu and Ukanafun Local Government Areas, which he dissolved last month.
But all the executives of the local governments retained their position except for Itu and Ukanafun.
The former Chairman of Itu, Mrs. Elsie Esara, was sacked because of corruption allegation, while her counterpart in Ukanafun, Hon. Abasiono Udomfu, of Ukanfun who is currently in Court with other suspects, was relieved of his position because of alleged complicity in the assassination of his erstwhile Secretary, Obong Ime Willie Atakpa.
The affected local government chairmen have been replaced already.
For Ukanafun, the governor named Mr. Israel Ideh as chairman while Mr. Fortune Archibong, came in for Itu
The current executives, who were sworn-in at the Government House Banquet Hall, were expected to run the third tier till November.
The governor however charged them to be loyal and support the administration’s determination towards implementing key programmes and policies of his administration that would impact on the lives of the people at the grassroots.
