A grand rally for the endorsement of Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State and his wife, Martha, is scheduled to hold on Friday.
It is being organised by youths of old Abak Division, in support of the lofty programmes and projects of the governor.
Also, at the event, the governor will be given endorsement for a second term ahead of the 2019 general election.
The event is billed to attract several thousands of Akwa Ibom people who will troop to the Abak Township Stadium, to show solidarity to the governor, who is coasting home to massive acceptability from all strata of the Akwa Ibom society.
A statement signed by the chairman of the planning committee, Chief Ekpuk Eshiet, said, “It will be the first reception organised for our son-in-law and our daughter since he was sworn in as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2015.
The rally organised by youths from the five local government areas of Abak, Etim Ekpo, Ika, Oruk Anam and Ukanafun, is expected to have in attendance very respectable sons and daughters of the old Abak Division.
The occasion will be chaired by the National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem while the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, and the State House of Assembly Leader, Sir Udo Kierian Akpan are expected as Special Guest of Honour and Guest of Honour respectively.

The Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Frank Ekpo, will be the Chief Host while the executive chairmen of Abak, Ika, Etim Ekpo, Oruk Anam and Ukanafun local government areas would serve as hosts, among other dignitaries.
The statement further indicates that the high point of the rally would be the formal reception and endorsement of Governor Udom Emmanuel for a second term ahead of the 2019 elections.
The rally, it maintained, “would afford the youths of Abak Five, an opportunity to appreciate and commend our in-law, Mr. Integrity, His Excellency Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for the prudent management of the state resources leading to the ongoing industrial revolution in Akwa Ibom State, and the formal reception of decamped youths from other parties into our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party.”
