The governor spoke when he visited the Super Eagles camp at Le Meridien Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, Uyo.

The governor said he was at the camp to see that the players and officials arrived safely and were prepared for the coming match.

“I so much cherish the discipline in the team, that is the only thing that is missing in Africa. Just put that one word in Africa and we are complete. So, once you see discipline, you see success,” he said.

The governor warned the team not to underrate their opponents.

“We value our national colours, we value the country we come from and the whole country is behind you,” he said.

“We are giving you the assurance that the whole country appreciates what you are doing and I want to assure you that you have my 100 per cent backing.”

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF),  Amaju Pinnick, thanked the governor for the support he had continued to give the Nigerian team.

“On behalf of this team, I want to tell you that for all your commitments, support, love and resources you have invested, we are ready to complement by ensuring that we clinch the World Cup qualifying ticket here in Uyo.”
