Agba Jalingo Regains Freedom After Perfecting Bail Condition

Detained publisher of CrossRiverWatch, Agba Jalingo, has regained his freedom after perfecting his bail condition on Monday.

Jalingo was arrested on August 22, 2019, on the orders of Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, following a report alleging that the governor had diverted the sum of N500m belonging to the state.

He was later charged with treason.

After being denied bail twice by another judge, Simon Amobeda, Justice Sule Shuaibu of the Federal High Court, Calabar, eventually granted him bail last Thursday in the sum of N10 million.

The court asked that those standing as surety for the journalist must make a refundable deposit of N700,000 to court registry to perfect the bail.
