President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the national female basketball team, D’Tigress, for their highly impressive outing at the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2019 in Dakar, Senegal.
D’Tigress on Sunday defeated hosts Senegal at the finals, 60-55.
In a statement issued by the his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu on Monday, the President praised the team for their professionalism and determination which enabled them to emerge eventual winners, thereby retaining the title they won in 2017.
While commending the team for their discipline, maturity and focus all through the tournament, Buhari noted that the win further consolidated their position as African champions with four titles.
He also lauded all the officials and technical hands that guided the team to win the African title, urging them to remain focused on deploying such energy and talent in subsequent global tournaments.
