The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, has said the newly inaugurated Moremi Multipurpose International Market, Onikoko, would boost the economic growth of the town, state and the nation at large.

Oba Ogunwusi made the statement while commissioning the market at Ife Ooye Local Council Development Area, along Onikoko, Area of Ile-Ife on Wednesday.

According to the Ooni, the establishment of the market was was coming at the needed time when citizens and people from the Diaspora would greatly benefit from it.

According to him, people will be coming from far and near which will bring progress and development to the ancient city of Ile-Ife and the country at large.

The Royal Father therefore, ueged the citizens to make good use of the opportunity availed them by the market.

Earlier, the Developer of the Project, Ose Ogunkorode, commended Ooni Ogunwusi for his developmental drive to boost the economy of the ancient city of Ile-Ife and the state.

He noted that the international market was the first of its kind, saying 80 acres of land was released for the market and would be developed in three phases.

According to him, phase one would be completed in 2020 while the second phase would be finished by December 2021 and the third phase would rounded up by December 2022.

Also speaking, the Chairman, Committee of the Market, Oba Muritala Adewale, the Onikogun of Okerewe, commended Ooni Ogunwusi for making the market project a reality.

In his own comments, the Chairman, Ife Ooye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ganiyu Egbetunde, thanked God for giving them Ooni Ogunwusi, who he described as a “nation builder.”

Egbetunde said that Moremi International Market was one of its kind globally, for it is multipurpose, the market would encompass all things that have to do with market, for it will empowers the youth.

The chairman assured of adequate security in the market.
