As the ban on commercial motorcycles and tricycles by the Lagos State government is still generating mixed reactions from members of the public, former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Wednesday commended the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration for taking the bold step to stop their operation.

Fani-Kayode, who noted that Lagos State had been infiltrated by violent mercenaries from Niger and Chad, pointed out that the state governor did well by banning okada and keke operation.

The former minister, in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle, @realFFK, explained that if these “violent mercenaries” were left to rise against the residents of the state, “it would have been hell.”

The tweet reads: “Lagos had been encircled, infiltrated and occupied by violent mercenaries from Niger and Chad all claiming to be Okada riders. If they rose up against the indigenous population in the name of jihad or ethnic cleansing it would have been hell. Sanwo-Olu did well by banning them.”
