Ortom Tasks Corps Members On humanitarian, Selfless Services To Communities

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has charged members of the National Youths Service Corps, (NYSC), deployed to the state to give back to the society by offering intellectual, humanitarian and selfless services to the various communities they are posted in the state.

Gov. Ortom who gave the charge while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2019 Batch ‘C’ Stream ll orientation course for corps members, at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Wannune Tarka LGA, said that by doing so they would be adding value to the host communities and ameliorating their plights.

He urged them to integrate freely among themselves and keep aside the diversities of their background and remain diligent in carrying out any assignment that they may be given at their place of primary assignment.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mrs. Helen Adimaya, Ortom commended the corps members for demonstrating high level of commitment through their active participation in all camp activities throughout the three weeks orientation course.

He further assured that he had put adequate measures in place to ensure their security in the state just as he sought their maximum cooperation for a hitch free service year.

Earlier, the state coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Shicha Simon, said all activities on the camp were conducted in strict compliance with policy direction from the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, Abuja and oversight monitoring from the NYSC North Central Area Office located in Minna.

Mr. Simon admonished the corps members to represent the scheme proudly in the various communities they have been posted to and told them to stay away from acts inimical to the ideals of the scheme.
