National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, has called for a review of techniques and strategies by the nation’s fire service and other relevant agencies to proactively prevent the unnecessary loss of lives and properties from fire incidents.
Secondus made the call while commiserating with the victims of the recent fire outbreak that gutted a section of the popular Ochanja market in Onitsha, Anambra state.
The incident which occurred on Wednesday, October 16, led to loss of lives and properties running into millions of naira.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Ike Abonyi the PDP boss described the incident as very unfortunate.
He said his heart and that of other well meaning Nigerians are with the traders and the families of those who lost their beloved ones and properties in the inferno.
He called on all relevant authorities within and outside the state to ensure that the cause of the fire is ascertained with a view to averting any future occurrence.
The PDP boss pleaded with the Federal and Anambra state governments as well as organisations to take quick steps to assist the victims by sending relief materials in form of compensations and soft loans to cushion the effect of fire incident on the.
