Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on Thursday in Asaba commiserated with his Osun state counterpart, Rauf Aregbesola, on the death of his mother, Alhaja Saratu Aregbesola.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Charles Aniagwu, quoted Okowa as saying in his condolence message that the death of mama was a sad and shocking news.
The governor said he received the news of the demise of Alhaja Saratu Aregbesola, popularly called Iya-Olobi, with shock, adding that the deceased was a great woman and pillar of support for her son.

“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, I mourn with my brother Governor Aregbesola on the painful exit of his dear mother.

“There is no doubt that Mama was an epitome of motherhood and pillar of support to my brother, Gov Aregbesola, and indeed the entire Aregbesola family.

“Mama’s passage to greater glory came as a very rude shock. We take joy that she lived a very exemplary life and contributed to the uplift of humanity.

“A truly worthy mother of great distinction. Mama lived a life of honour, integrity, and great love for God and humanity. She was clearly a role model for all mothers.” He added.

Okowa said the deceased deserved to be celebrated for living a life worthy of emulation and for bringing up her children to greatness.
The governor prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal repose and the Aregbesola family the fortitude to bear the loss.
