Akwa Ibom Police Arrest Man For Setting Son Ablaze

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command said it had arrested one Idorenyin Essien, for setting his son ablaze in the Eket Local Government Area of the state.

Disclosing the incident to newsmen on Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macedon, said the incident took place on Friday, August 30, 2019, in Afia Nsit.

According to him, the 35-year-old Essien was arrested at his residence in the community adding that the command would soon charge the suspect to court.

It was gathered that Essien’s son stole N500 from a neighbour to buy food and when his father returned, the neighbour reported the matter to him.

Essien was said to have refunded the neighbour’s money and scolded his son whom he later sent to buy kerosene, which he used in setting him ablaze.
