JUST IN: At Least 8 Feared Dead In Massive fire At Chemical Factory

At least eight people are feared dead and scores injured in a massive fire at a chemical factory in Maharashtra’s Dhule district, India, police said.

The blaze resulted from multiple cylinder blasts at the chemical factory in Waghadi village in Shirpur taluka.

At least 100 workers were present inside the factory when the incident occurred around 9:45 am on Saturday.

A massive blanket of smoke could be seen over the factory.

Fire tenders are on the spot and efforts are on douse the fire. Various teams of police, disaster management, fire brigade are conducting rescue operations.

However, the number of casualties is expected to increase.

“Prima facie, multiple cylinders exploded at the factory. At least eight bodies have been recovered by police and rescue teams so far.

Rescue operation is on,” the Shirpur police station officer said.
