The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted localized thunderstorms over the Central States of Ilorin, Bida, Lafia, Makurdi, Abuja and Jos axis on Sunday morning.
NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office on Saturday in Abuja also predicted that Zaria, Kaduna, Lokoja and Ibi would experience isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening periods.
It added that the region would have day and night temperatures in the range of 28 and 30 and 20 and 22 degrees Celsius respectively.
The agency predicted that the southern states would experience localised rains over Port Harcourt, Yenagoa and Calabar axis in the morning hours.
It also predicted prospects of localised thunderstorm over the entire region throughout the forecast period with day and night temperatures of 25 and 28 and 19 to 21 degrees Celsius respectively.
According to NiMet, northern states will experience localised morning thunderstorms over Gusau, Yelwa and Kebbi with prospect of isolated thunderstorms over Nguru, Sokoto, Kano and Katsina in the afternoon and evening hours.
“The region will also have day and night temperatures in the range of 30 and 33 and 20 and 23 degrees Celsius respectively.
“There is a high level of moisture influx into the country and this is expected to give rise to rainfall activities over most cities,’’ NiMet predicted.
