Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court, Lagos, discharged and acquitted former Gov. Rasheed Ladoja of Oyo State of corruption charges.

In a judgment delivered on Friday, he held that the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, did not provide enough evidence against Ladoja.

Recall that the anti corruption body had charged Ladoja to court for allegedly converting N4.7 billion from the state’s treasury for his personal use.

He was arraigned along with his former Commissioner for Finance, Akanbi, on 11 counts charge of money laundering and unlawful conversion of public funds.

Both had pleaded not guilty to the charges, and were granted bails.

Giving his judgement on Friday, Justice Idris set the two free on the grounds that the EFCC could not supply enough evidence to convict them.
