The Benue state Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has tasked all stakeholders in the educational sector to join hands with government to improve the standard of education in the state.
Chairman of the SUBEB, Dr. Philip Tachin made the call at a reception organised by the board to honour pupils who emerged victorious at the 2018 Public Primary Schools debate competition recently held in Anambra State.
Tachin said that if the standard of education must be raised, parents, teachers, guardians, government and relevant agencies and organisation will have to work in synergy.
He said government on its part will continue to do its best to improve and sustain the standard of education in the state particularly at the primary school level.
“The time is now for everybody, including corporate organisations and wealthy individuals, to join government in developing the educational sector, as the government cannot do it alone.
“In this regard we would like to appeal to stakeholders to seek time-tested and creative ways for improvement of the educational system in the state.
The SUBEB chairman described the feat recorded by pupils in the debate competition as a wonderful one, saying it has served as indices to show that the standard of education in Benue was improving.

According to him, the standard of education went down in the state but with what the school pupils have achieved, it was enough proof that it has improved greatly.
Speaking at the occasion, the Benue state Coordinator, Universal Basic Education Commission, (UBEC, Mrs. Agustina Sanchi said the victory of the Pupils in the competition has proven that Public Primary schools are performing as well if not better than the private schools in the state.
Sanchi who was represented by Mr. Donald Nyibiam noted that the public schools have more qualified teachers than those found in the private primary schools.
She urged the teachers to be committed to their job and to discharge their responsibilities with utmost love and sincerity for a better society.
Benue State Commissioner for Education, Professor Stephen Ityavyar, implored the board members and management of the SUBEB to continue to support the chairman for more awards and better education in the state.
