As Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, lifts ban on campaigns, the Labour Party, LP, in Benue state has flagged off it rally preparatory to the 2019 general election.
Speaking at the flag off, Deputy National President of the party in the North Central, Comrade David Shirsha Adi, said the party will be going round the state, ward to ward to canvass for votes for their candidates.
Adi decried the level of poverty and suffering in Benue saying Labour party was presenting Paul Agya not because of zoning but because Benue was in distress and in need of his services to salvage her.
“Benue is sick and we will not fold our hands and allow the state to finish. We need an experienced hand to bring it out of the quagmire it is in.
“Those who cannot perform should give way. We are saying no to sit tight syndrome. We are presenting Paul Angya as Governor. He has no Godfather but has come into politics to salvage Benue. When Angya is sworn-in in 2019 as Governor of Benue state, he will lead Benue and not just labour party,” he said.
He further explained that the party has chosen a woman, Shirley Enisu Ogah as his running mate to provide for a motherly support so that Benue will be better.
Addressing party supporters at the IBB Square, in Makurdi, Monday, the Governorship candidate, Hon. Paul Angya said the flag off was a miracle because the devil had laid ambush to prevent the event.
He noted there were rumours that he had withdrawn from the race saying “I have not withdrawn but by 2019, I will be sworn in as governor of the state.
Angya encouraged the candidates and party supporters to be steadfast, go from door to door to campaign as the labour party is bound for victory come 2019.

He called on all Benue people to jettison clanish and primordial sentiments and vote the labour party to take the state out of “this hole of poverty” adding that from non payment of salaries to salary and pensions arrears, infrastructural dilapidation and unemployment among others, the state will be salvaged.
He also urged Benue people to ensure they collect their PVCs to enable them exercise their franchise during the general elections.
A former Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kris Atsaka, Benue State House of Assembly, Makurdi South, was among the candidates who received “a flag of Victory” to contest the 2019 elections on the party platform.
