National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, has said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, cannot unseat President Muhammadu Buhari no matter how many meetings they hold and where they meet.

He spoke in reaction to the alleged ongoing meeting of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, with some leaders and high ranking members of the party in Dubai on how best to eject Buhari from the Villa.

Tinubu, who spoke on Wednesday, after meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, said: “We don’t fear, whether it’s in the jungle, or it’s in Dubai or it’s in Abu Dhabi, people are free to meet and strategise in any way. But we are not going back to the illusion of the PDP.”

Recalling that PDP held sway at the national level for 16 years from 1999 to 2015, Tinubu said he did not believe Nigerians would return power to them.

He argued that APC’s style of governance was best for Nigeria.

His words: “They say slow and steady wins the race. We inherited that from our forefathers and knowledgeable people. We can’t go back to the pit that we inherited for 16 years. They can strategize from anywhere but a leopard cannot change its skin.”

Speaking on his discussion with the president, Tinubu said it was all about “the nation, the country, our people, peace, stability and economic progress.”

The APC leader also spoke about the embattled National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.

“We all have to respect the party supremacy. You were all here when we had the congress, we elected the new executives at the convention.

“The NEC was formed and we surrendered – to avoid conflict, to avoid domination, to avoid abuses of power – we surrendered our rights, all rights to the National Working Committee headed by Adams Oshiomhole.”

Oshiomhole, who is under pressure from some of the party’s governors to resign is accused of highhanded in running the affairs of the party.

Many party members are particularly irked by his handling of the recently held primaries.
