President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Ambassador Abdullahi Ibrahim Atta on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

The anniversary comes up on Friday.

The president thanked God for his continued benevolence, strength and never-failing care to Atta in the past decades.

Buhari applauded Atta for his service to the Nigeria during his career in the foreign and public service.

He described him as one who distinguished himself, with courage, in the work of reconciliation, conflict prevention, justice and peace around the world.

The president said as family, friends, former colleagues and well-wishers would be celebrating the nonagenarian’s lifetime and achievements, he reminded them, the young and old alike, of their responsibility to give the nation hope for the future.

He prayed that Ambassador Atta would enjoy more years of health and continue to be an inspiration to the upcoming generation on discipline, hard work and patriotism.

The president’s message is contained in a statement issued by his media aide,  Mallam Garba Shehu.
