The cult war has led to the death of many and the destruction of property in the areas.

Governor Udom Emmanuel made the vow on Friday when he visited the council headquarters at Utu Etim Ekpo.

During the visit, he called on the youths in the area to avoid any form of violence.

It is believed that the visit of the governor has to do with violence that followed the killing of a soldier at Iwukem community by unknown gunmen.

As a result of the killing, a detachment of soldiers went on rampage, burning down market stalls and houses in the area.

During the visit, the governor presented relief materials to those affected by the violence.

He expressed his sympathy over the situation of displaced persons in the area and called for a peaceful atmosphere in order to ensure development.

Some of the materials provided included rice, beans, beverages, toiletries and garri.

It would be recalled that Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun areas have been witnessing violence in the past few years.

About three months ago, when he visited the areas, Emmanuel appealed to the youths to eschew violence.
