Sex-for-marks: OAU suspends Prof Akindele indefinitely

Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile Ife, Osun State, has dismissed Professor Richard Akindele from the institution.

Akindele is the lecturer involved in a sex-for-mark scandal.

He had, in an audio that went viral on the internet, demanded sex from one of his students, Miss Monica Osagie, in exchange for mark.

Following the scandal, the school authority set up a probe panel and found Akindele guilty.

Announcing the dismissal of the lecturer on Wednesday to reporters, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, said the governing council found him guilty as charged.

He was said to have been found guilty of sexually harassing the student.

According to him, the evidences of allegation of misconduct against Akindele were overwhelming.

He said the dismissal would serve as a lesson to others.

He said the university had also put in place measures to protect students from sexual harassment in the university.
