Yero and the others were detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday and arraigned at the court on Thursday.

They are being probed over issues bordering over alleged cases of money laundering, criminal conspiracy, misappropriation of public funds among others.

Arraigned with the former governor are former Kaduna Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Mr. Haruna Gaiya; former Minister of State for Power, Mr. Nuhu Way, and former Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Mr. Hamza Ishaq.

Ramalan Yero and others pleaded not guilty to the charges against them and their counsel, Yunus Ustaz (SAN), made an oral application for their bail.

The prosecution counsel, Joshua Saidi, however, countered the bail application saying the court should detain the men in prison pending when a written application for bail would be made.

Justice Mohammed Shua’ibu rejected the oral application for bail and ordered that the suspects should be remanded in prison till June 6 when the case would come up again.

The suspects have been under probe since 2016 over the disbursement of N750 million spent on PDP campaign before the 2015 general election.
