But for the assistance of his priest, who prepared charms for him, arresting and killing Iso Akpafid, the leader of the cult group that terrorized Ukanafun and other local government areas in Akwa Ibom State would have remained a mirage.

Iso Akpafid, whose real name is Akaninyene Jumbo Ukoh,  is a native of Ikot Ibekwe Village, a school drop-out and an orphan who turned out to be a cult leader.

The priest who was caught by security agents as part of efforts to dislodge the cult leader gave the key to arresting or killing him.

It was gathered that the priest told security agents that to kill Iso Akpafid, they needed an AK-47 and that it must be hung with the person holding it ready for action.

A second person, it was instructed, must hold the gun facing the sky.

That would prevent Akpafid from escaping.

And to kill him, the priest disclosed, he should be shot in the ear after a spoke must have been inserted into his manhood.

The security agents took acted accordingly and saw the end of the terrorist.

On Monday,  January 15, Iso Akpafid was unaware of the plans to attack him.

He had his bath in his girl-friend’s house, rubbed powder all over his body not knowing his end was near as security operatives had surrounded the house located at a border village between Rivers and Abia States.

When he noticed the presence of security agents, he was said to have jumped out naked through the window to escape, but it was too late for him.

He was caught.

Efforts to get information from him however proved abortive as he remained obstinate till death.

The only words he uttered were:  “This is the business; sometimes it works, sometimes it fails. That is that.”

The security agents, killed him almost immediately for fear of possible intervention by suspected top politicians who used him.

It was gathered that Iso Akpafid was funded by top politicians who used him at will.

According to information, he lacked nothing courtesy of the politicians.

They were said to have also shielded him from arrests at different occasions.

Iso Akpafid, it was gathered, donated bags of rice to villagers during the last Christmas.

He was also said to have given them cash, saying, they should enjoy government money.
