Plans to revive the popular television drama series in the 70s, The Village Headmaster, as an epic film and television play may have died with the demise of Mr. Tunde Oloyede.
Oloyede who was the producer and director of the defunct television series died in his sleep on Monday at his Festac, Lagos residence.
He was aged 70.
Before his death, alongside a few other major casts in The Village Headmaster, there were plans to make the drama series an epic film and a television play.
He was a key factor in the project.
Apart from Oloyede, some of those involved in the plan are Dejumo Lewis, Ibidun Alison, Jimi Olusola and Wole Adediran.
Already, they had retrieved the original book of The Village Headmaster, written by Ambassador Segun Olusola, who created the drama series.

It would be recalled that Olusola is also dead.
It was gathered that the book was necessary for a good background for the project.
Speaking at a press conference on the project, Oloyede had said: “This is to remind us of what we had in the past and to tell us where we are going in the future.
“As you know, The Village Headmaster was not just an ordinary production. It was not just for entertainment. It also talked about issues. It talked about Nigeria, it talked so much about communal living that it became a part of life for everybody when it was running. It became so important that even heads of state would stop meetings to go and watch it.”
With the death of Oloyede who is a key personality in the project, it is not likely that the project will go on.
