The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has refuted reports circulating online that claim there are delays in reimbursing students who paid fees prior to receiving their National Education Loan Fund (NELFund) disbursements.

In a statement on Thursday, the university’s Head of Communication Unit, Mrs. Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, clarified that all refunds are processed only after proper reconciliation with NELFund.

“So far, three tranches of NELFund loans have been received by the university, and beneficiaries across the first two batches have been successfully reimbursed,” she said. “For the third batch, which was received towards the end of April, we are currently collating and reconciling students’ payment details.”

She assured the student body that the university remains committed to transparency, accountability, and student-focused service delivery.

Alaga-Ibraheem also encouraged students to utilize the NELFund loan and to reach out to the NELFund help desk at the Student Affairs Division for support on any issues.

The statement affirms that the refund process is ongoing and in line with regulatory procedures.
