The return of Chelsea’s midfield warrior, Ngolo Kante saw Chelsea put up an electrifying display to beat Manchester United 1 – 0 at Stamford Bridge.
Kante was out for a month due to injury. During that
time Chelsea lost two games and had two draws.
The impact of the French midfielder was clear for all to see. He was there to dispossess players with the ball and make sure there were no gaps in the team. He did all that perfectly.
Chelsea Defender, David Luiz, was left on the bench by Antonio Conte due to his dismal performance in the UEFA Champions league in the two legs against AS Roma. In his place was Andreas Christensen.
It was a game that could have gone either way with both teams playing with caution. However, Chelsea had more ball possession and more attempts on target in the first half.
The second half began the same way the first half ended. Chelsea continued pressurizing United’s defence. Alvaro Morata scored his trade mark goal in the 56th minute with his head to break the deadlock.
Manchester United responded with waves of attacks after that goal with the introduction of Maroune Fellani and Athony Martial.
Man United’s desperation to get an equalizer made them vulnerable at the back and made them to almost concede a second goal.
Towards the end of the game Manchester United almost found the equalizer they were looking for but they missed the
opportunity.
However, despite spirited efforts by United as they threw caution to the wind, the game ended 1 – 0 in Chelsea’s favour.
Chelsea’s victory and United’s loss, sees Manchester City extend their lead to eight
points.
