Archibong was presented to the Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the PDP, Alhaji Ahmed Markafi, at the Uyo township stadium during a rally.

Speaking at the occasion which was to flag off the 2017 campaigns of the PDP ahead of the local government elections, Markafi commended the lawmaker and thousands of others for defecting.

He assured that with the strengthening of internal democracy and the failure of the APC at the national level, the coast was clear for the PDP to return to power   in 2019.

Archibong’s defection, it was gathered, followed the internal wrangling within the APC in state in the last two years.

The wrangling which led to a division of the party into two saw one faction headed by Mr. Mitchel George while the other is headed by Mr. Amadu Attai.

The two factions have been unable to resolve their internal wrangling even as the local government election is scheduled for December 2, 2017.
