A Magistrates’ Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Thursday remanded one Joshua Ayeni, 41, at the Agodi Correctional Centre over alleged defilement and impregnation of his 13-year old stepdaughter.

The Chief Magistrate, Patricia Adetuyibi who did not take the plea of the defendant, ordered his remand, pending the advice of the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The Nigeria Security and Civil  Defence Corps (NSCDC ) charged the defedant on two counts of defilement and impregnation.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defendant, resides at No. 7, Adeyemo Layout, Molete, Ibadan.

The Prosecution Counsel, Olurotimi Afe, told the court that Ayeni, in January, defiled his stepdaughter who lived with him and his wife without the minor’s consent.

Afe alleged that the defedant also impregnated the 13-year-old girl.

He said the offence contravened Sections 34 (1) and 35(1) and was punishable under Sections 34 (2) and 35 (2) of the Oyo State Child Rights Law, 2006. (NAN)
