Gunmen attack Coomasie home, kill policeman

The Katsina State residence of former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Coomasie, was attacked by some gunmen on Saturday, killing one mobile policeman.

Another policeman was injured in the attack while the members of the Coomasie family were said to be safe.

The gun, two in number, it was gathered, came at about 8.00 p.m.on a motorcycle and shot at the two policemen on guard at the gate of the house.

They however did not gain entrance.

The body of the policeman who died in the incidence has been deposited at the mortuary of Katsina General Hospital, where the other injured mobile policeman was receiving treatment.

The spokesman of the police command in the state, DSP Isa Gambo, said the police were conducting operation on the matter.
