The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP), in collaboration with International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and Benue State Government has expressed commitment in the fight against human trafficking and other offences therewith.
Recall that in February 2021 , the parties had set up the Benue State Task Force on Human Trafficking with members drawn from different agencies, NGOs and CSOs with a view to fight human trafficking in the state to achieve greater results.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the Benue State Task Force on Human trafficking, in Makurdi, the Chairman of the State Task Force who is the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Benue State, Barr. Michael Gusa said the aim of the meeting was to brainstorm on the way forward in the fight against Human Trafficking in Benue State.
The Chairman expressed concerns that issues of Human Trafficking were evolving into different forms and trends and called on the members to work together in a more coordinated manner towards curbing the crime in the state.
The representative of IOM, Mrs Bertha Nguvulu, charged the members to look at the area of strength that Benue state has in the eradication of Human Trafficking and develop a plan of action to address those gaps identified.
She also pledged IOM continuous support for NAPTIP especially for the implementation plan.
Meanwhile, the Zonal Commander, NAPTIP, Makurdi Zonal Office, Mrs Gloria Bai, told The Next Edition, after the meeting, that she has confidence that the members of state task force will come up with workable plans that when implemented, will curtail incessant cases of human trafficking in the state and give assistance for victims of Human Trafficking
