A 25-year-old automobile mechanic, Albert Olaposi, is on the run after allegedly beheading his five-year- old daughter, Mercy, in Gbongan, Osun State.

The incident reportedly took place on Monday October 26.

Until her death, Mercy was said to be living with her paternal grandmother in the Oke Oje area of Gbongan, while her parents lived in another area of the town.

However, it was learnt that Olaposi on Monday morning, visited his mother’s residence and took the deceased was.

He then allegedly beheaded her.

Reports said the victim’s grandmother raised the alarm.

The Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, who confirmed the incident, said the remains of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.

She said the police had launched a manhunt for the suspect.

Hoodlums have invaded the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Kubwa area, one of the satellite towns of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja for looting.

The Nation gathered they have carted away mattresses and other materials meant for Corps members.

Soldiers and other security operatives are firing gunshots to protect the facility and chase the hoodlums.
