Abia Govt Uncovers Plans To Raze Markets In The State

The Abia State Government said it has uncovered plans by hoodlums hiding under the guise of #EndSARS protests, to burn down some markets in the state.

This was made known by the state’s Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Cosmos Ndukwe Ph.D, in a statement on Thursday.

“Already, these persons have formed themselves into large groups of 200 and advancing to target markets, particularly Ariaria; with the purpose of setting them ablaze,” theCommissioner stated.

He urged genuine protesters not allow hoodlums to divert their attention.

Ndukwe also urged Market Management Committee Members and security agencies to take the report seriously and “muster the minutest support they can, to avert this proposed heinous crime.”

He added: “We cannot afford to record more loses, as so far, we have crossed the threshold of crimes against humanity, markets belongs to all and as it stands they have used the faulks road divide to block samek junction leading into ariaria.

“Please, let us treat as urgent”
