Benue State Police Command said it has arrested one Emeka Simon for defiling his seven months old baby in Makurdi.
The State Police Commissioner, Garba Mukaddas, disclosed this at the command headquarters in Makurdi while briefing journalists on the successes recorded by the command.
CP Mukaddas said Emeka Simon of Modern Market Road, Makurdi defiled his seven months old daughter and has been on the run to prevent his arrest.
According to him, the suspect was arrested on June 2, by detectives at ‘D’ Division Police station Makurdi and the case is still under investigation.
The Commissioner also stated that the command arrested 86 others for sundry crimes including armed robbery, cultism, illegal arms possession among others.
CP Mukaddas said under his watch, the police has been able to strategize and rid the state of criminals, redeploy personnel to vulnerable areas and engage warring communities so as to bring lasting solutions to their problems.

He said during the period under review, a total of 87 suspects were arrested, 45 of them, cultist, 38 suspected armed robbers and four suspected kidnapers while 15 arms and 20 ammunition were recovered.
Some of the suspects arrested include Terseer Peter, Omochoko Aba, Aondoakura Terna and Ameh Onuh Okpe arrested for kidnappings and armed robbery.
Others are Agada John, John Stephen, Kenneth Sunday and Anthony Ojile all ‘m’ of Otukpo town, Peter Egbe of North-Bank, Makurdi, Abubakar, Yakubu and Awushdor Adamu all ‘m’ of Wadata among others.
The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the people of Benue state for being law abiding and very supportive to the Police during this period.
He pledged that the Command will continue to work tirelessly with useful Information and available resources to ensure a peaceful Benue environment.
