553 New Coronavirus Cases Recorded in Nigeria

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Saturday confirmed 553 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

The new infections shot to 9,855 the total number of Nigerians who have been infected with the virus.

According to a tweet on the centre’s verified Twitter handle on Saturday night, Lagos recorded 378 cases out of the total infections.

The centre also announced that 12 COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in 24 hours across the country, bringing the total number of deaths to 273.

The tweet read:

“553 new cases of #COVID19;
“Lagos-378 , FCT-52, Delta-23, Edo-22, Rivers-14 Ogun-13, Kaduna-12, Kano-9, Borno-7, Katsina-6, Jigawa-5, Oyo-5, Yobe-3, Plateau-3 and Osun-1.

 

“9855 cases of #COVID19Nigeria
Discharged: 2856
Deaths: 273.”

Meanwhile, the NCDC has announced the inclusion of an additional lab to its NCDC Laboratory Network; Bauchi State Reference Molecular Laboratory , thus bringing the total number of labs with the capacity to test for #COVID19 in Nigeria to 29.
