No fewer than 39 construction companies on Wednesday bid for the opportunity to construct the proposed Fourth Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Aramide Adeyoye said at the unveiling of the companies that expressed their interest in the project on Wednesday, that the opening of the bid was the first of the six stages before a winner would be selected to construct the proposed bridge.
She noted that the government had placed the project under the Public-Private Partnership, PPP, arrangement, because it did not have the fund to undertake the project alone.
According to her, the government was encouraged by the number of companies that bid for the project worldwide.

Adeyoye explained that the next step in the process, which is the evaluation stage would begin on Thursday, adding that the companies that qualified for the next stage would be contacted.
Managing Director, Advanced Engineering Consultants, Dr. Peter Agunbiade in remarks said the journey to construct the Fourth Mainland Bridge began many years ago.
He said companies in Europe, Asia and others duly expressed interest in the project, and assured that the state government would be transparent in executing the bid.
Some of the companies that expressed interest in the project are: Julius Berger, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), China State Construction and Engineering Corporation Nigeria Limited, Kyeryong Construction Company, Pythgoras Holdings, Bua International Limited, CRCCCI Nigeria, China Jiangxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation Company Limited, among others.
