The All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Balogun, has said that 230 aspirants are vying for 40 seats in the state’s House of Assembly in the 2019 election.
Balogun, who disclosed this at the party’s secretariat in Lagos, during a closed-door meeting with returnee chieftain, Remi Adikwu-Bakare, stated that the 230 aspirants were presently waiting to be screened for the party’s primaries coming soon.
He said the on-going crisis involving the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was not strange.
According to him, it was all about strengthening internal democracy.
He maintained that the challenges notwithstanding, the APC would still remain popular in the state as Lagosians believe and trust the platform.

Balogun stated: “Lagosians believe in us and trust in transforming Lagos. Lagos is the third highest economy in Africa. With people like Adikwu-Bakare joining us, we will still continue to rule Lagos.
“With the way APC is going, PDP will be completely obliterated in the political map of Lagos. With her return, the APC’s torn umbrella is completely destroyed in Lagos.”
Balogun stated that every member of the party, both new and old had equal rights, assuring that those defecting to the party would also be given sensitive positions.
He urged all the new and returnee members of the party to get registered immediately to obtain their membership card instantly to qualify for rights and privileges within the party.
